Lumber Yard Associate

686 Industrial Blvd, Delta, CO 81416Full-time — Non-exempt$18–$23 per hour, commensurate with experience

The Lumber Yard Associate supports daily yard operations by loading and unloading materials, assisting customers and drivers, maintaining yard organization, and operating forklifts under supervision. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, being outdoors, and learning the building materials industry.

Core Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Load and unload lumber, rebar, and building materials for deliveries and customer pickups
  • Organize materials and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient yard
  • Assist customers and contractors in locating and loading materials when needed
  • Operate forklifts or other material-handling equipment after training, or assist operators
  • Help receive, check, and stock incoming shipments
  • Communicate material issues, shortages, or safety concerns to yard leadership
  • Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a positive team environment
  • Perform general cleanup and support tasks as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

Required

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs occasionally and perform physical work outdoors in varying weather
  • Willingness to learn forklift operation
  • Comfortable working in an outdoor lumber yard and rebar facility with exposure to weather, dust, and equipment noise
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record required for occasional customer deliveries

Preferred

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Forklift certification
  • Construction, farm, warehouse, or yard experience

Key Skills

  • Dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work well with a team
  • Strong attention to detail when pulling and staging orders
  • Willingness to learn the building materials industry from the ground up

Compensation & Benefits

  • $18–$23 per hour, commensurate with experience
  • Overtime available and/or required based on seasonality of the business
  • Simple IRA Retirement upon 1 year of employment
